On May 15, 2003, at the headquarters of the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Department, Mr. McCord was sworn in as the first Reserve Officer in its history by Chief of Police, Alan B. Kerstein. His friend, Commander Larry Manion, conducted the Badge Ceremony.
This television drama showcased the LAPD, dramatizing the day-to-day activities of Officers Reed and Malloy who were assigned to uniformed patrol in the LAPD’s Central Patrol Division. Their patrol unit designation was 1 “Adam” 12, hence the name of the show.

Kent McCord (left) and Martin Milner remained close friends long after Adam-12 went off the air. Their off-screen friendship made their on-screen partnership all the more realistic. Milner portrayed the seasoned cop breaking in rookie Jim Reed, played by actor Kent McCord, for seven seasons on NBC.
In 1965 McCord signed a contract with Universal Pictures, and three years later he got his big break when Jack Webb picked him to co-star in Adam-12 (1968). During the series’ run he became actively involved in the Screen Actors Guild, and is still involved today.
